Roy G. Bernard Sr. died Sunday, March 7, 2010 with his son, Gregory, by his side, three days short of his 93rd birthday. He was born March 10, 1917 in Louisa, Louisiana.
After serving in World War II, he moved to Willow Run Village, Ypsilanti, MI. While working at Bud Wheel in Detroit and Willow Run Kaiser/Frazer plant, he raised three sons with his wife, Marion. He went to work at the Ford Wayne Assembly plant when it opened in 1952, as a metal finisher supervisor, until he retired. He loved to garden and was know for his beautiful rose bushes. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mamie Meynard Bernard and Valsin Bernard, as well as three sisters, Luella, Louise and Yvonne and one brother, Alvin, all who resided in Louisiana; his wife of 61 years, Marion E. Junod Bernard and one son, Craig S. Bernard. He is survived by his youngest brother, Howard Bernard of TX, oldest son, Roy (Priscilla) Bernard Jr. and their three sons, all of Pennsylvania, his youngest son, Gregory L. Bernard of Saline, MI and one grandson, of Ypsilanti, of his deceased son. We would like to thank Roy's two special nieces, Glo and Jan, both of Louisiana, for looking after him over the last six years. The funeral service will be 7 pm Wednesday, March 10 at Stark Funeral Service where the family will receive friends from 5 pm until time of service.
